Centuries ago, country craftsmen in the Western Cape of South Africa toiled to make furniture that was practical, comfortable, and durable. The furniture of the time reflects this reality in the historic Tulbagh Chair, which inspired our own version of the piece.
The uncompromised pursuit of comfort is felt in the chair’s inviting seat and gently curved backrest. Together, the straight legs and deep-seated joints create a robust frame – echoing the mandate of the country craftsmen to construct furniture that would last and be a pleasure to use.
This solid wood chair is a Pedersen + Lennard first and we are pleased to offer four different material options for its seat: solid timber, upholstery, riempie, or rattan. Choose your own look and grace your home with our unique version of this Cape icon.
